Adopting waste-prevention routines: The role of consumer concern for food waste

چکیده
Food waste is a burning issue, one that both local and global. Although most consumers hate wasting do not intend to waste, they still end up food. By focusing on routines prevent rather than behaviours, by defining measuring consumer concern for food (CFW), this study seeks address apparent contradiction. A follow-up three preliminary studies, quantitative proposes valid reliable measure of CFW, examines the links between antecedents concern, seven waste-prevention routines. Empirical data reveals two dimensions CFW have very distinct influence food-related The first, “individual/interpersonal concern”, has strong relationship with these routines, whereas second, “global no significant them. For researchers, authors provide model integrating behavioural consequences CFW. policy makers managers seeking reduce at household level, research provides recommendations an impact food-waste-related behaviours through individual/interpersonal its proven (economic concerns, involvement, education).

متن کاملA Management Framework for Municipal Solid Waste Systems and Its Application to Food Waste Prevention
Waste management is a complex task involving numerous waste fractions, a range of technological treatment options, and many outputs that are circulated back into society. A systematic, interdisciplinary systems management framework was developed to facilitate the planning, implementation, and maintenance of sustainable waste systems. It aims not to replace existing decision-making approaches, b...
متن کاملHydrothermal Liquefaction of Food Waste and Model Food Waste Compounds
Solid waste is generated at a rate of more than 4 lb per person per day. A significant portion of the non-recyclable waste is food waste, with high water content and low energy density. While most thermochemical conversion processes require a relatively dry feedstock, hydrothermal liquefaction uses subcritical water as the reaction medium and is therefore compatible with high-moisture feedstock...
متن کاملQuantifying and valuing post-consumer food waste in South Africa
Food waste is problematic on a number of levels; including the loss of a potentially valuable food source or resource for use in other processes; wasted resources and emissions in the food supply chain; and problems associated with the disposal of organic waste to landfill. We quantify the post-consumer food waste stream in South Africa, in order to bring attention to the magnitude of the probl...
متن کاملA Review of Empirical Applications on Food Waste Prevention&Management
Food waste has a significant detrimental economic, environmental and social impact. Recent efforts in HCI research have examined ways of influencing surplus food waste management. In this paper, we conduct a research survey to investigate and compare the effectiveness of existing approaches in food waste management throughout its lifecycle from agricultural production, post-harvest handling and...
